3x3: On Doing Hard Things, Living Fully, and Relearning Real Communication
3 impactful ideas, 3 thought-provoking visuals, and 3 deep questions every week.
Hi, it’s Tom.
This week, I’ll show you why doing hard things creates the best memories, how meaningful rituals can help you live more fully, and why social media is no substitute for real connection.
Let’s dive in.
1. Do Hard Things

Hard things create memories. They give meaning to your days and reward you with a sense of accomplishment.
You won’t remember walking 20 minutes to the supermarket. But you’ll remember the 25km hike you completed with a 10kg backpack. Last summer, I walked on a portion of the Compostelle path with my sister, and I have a vivid memory of that journey, not because it was easy, but because it was hard and worth it.
Easy things fade. Hard things stick. And the harder the challenge, the greater the reward. So if you’re wondering how to make this year unforgettable, pick something hard and get going.
Question: Imagine it’s five years from now. What’s one moment of pride or adventure you want to look back on? What challenge would make you feel truly p
2. It’s Not About the Years, It’s About the Life

Life isn’t measured by the number of years but by the moments that take your breath away.
Creating meaningful moments doesn’t happen by accident. It requires intention. Think of the holidays, celebrations, and traditions you look forward to every year. Now, imagine designing your own rituals, experiences that feel sacred, special, and memorable.
The problem is, most people fall into a yearly routine where nothing stands out. Days blur into weeks, weeks into months. Before they know it, another year has passed, and it feels like nothing special happened.
Break the routine. Create something worth remembering. Plan a unique experience, host a dinner with purpose, or start a ritual that feels sacred to you.
Question: Imagine your life as a photo album. What would you add this year to make it worth flipping through in 10 years?

Social media was designed to connect us. But today, it often does the opposite.
Online platforms are great for sharing information, like a modern Morse code. But they can’t replicate the depth of in-person conversations. Real communication, the kind that builds trust, deepens understanding, and strengthens relationships, can only happen face-to-face.
We live in an age where loneliness and anxiety are on the rise. One reason for this? People are substituting real interactions with online ones. Sending a quick message or reacting to a post might feel like communication, but it’s a shallow replacement for the connection we all need.
True connection requires effort. It’s built over coffee, shared laughter, and honest conversations, not in a comment section.
Question: Imagine a world where social media doesn’t exist. How would you connect with the people who matter most to you?
One Last Thought
Your best memories won’t come from doing what’s easy. Your most meaningful moments won’t come from repeating the same routine. And your deepest connections won’t come from a screen.
Step into the hard things. Create moments that matter. And don’t be afraid to unlock the doors that scare you most.
Start small. Start now. And keep moving forward.
À la semaine prochaine,
Tom
