3x3: On Starting at Zero, Acting Fast, and Mastering Time
3 impactful ideas, 3 thought-provoking visuals, and 3 deep questions every week.
Hi, it’s Tom. Happy New Year!
The start of a new year is always filled with energy and ambition. But resolutions fade, which is why I want to talk about timeless ideas that will help you grow, think deeper, and act with purpose.
Here are 3 ideas to help you start 2025 on the right path:
1. Everyone Starts at 0

Every expert was once a beginner. No matter where you start, what defines you is how you climb.
Mozart couldn’t play the piano before he could. Einstein knew nothing about physics before he learned. Federer wasn’t great at tennis before he started... well, okay, Federer might be the exception. But you get the point.
Some people start. Others wait for the “right time,” hoping for conditions that never come.
Starting at zero isn’t a limitation. It’s a starting line. The real failure is refusing to begin.
Question: Where in your life are you at zero, and what incredible results could you achieve by starting today?
2. Be Impatient with Action and Patient with Results

Act today. Plan for the weeks ahead. Create a vision for years to come. Build a legacy for the next decades.
When I started posting on social media, the biggest growth always came at the end of my focused efforts. Not at the beginning. Over three short bursts of consistency, I built a following of around 60,000 people. But I wasn’t consistent over the past two years. Now, I’ve committed to showing up consistently because momentum takes time, and results don’t happen overnight. After 8 weeks of consistent efforts I’m starting to get results and small wins that will build my future success.
Fast action creates momentum. Patient effort delivers results. Both are non-negotiable.
Question: Where do you need to act faster and create the momentum needed for long-term results?
3. You Don’t Need More Time

Time isn’t holding you back. Neither is motivation or speed. You already have enough.
The difference between good and great athletes isn’t talent. It’s their focus, consistency, and discipline. Michael Jordan, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Serena Williams didn’t just rely on skill. They trained relentlessly and brought discipline into every decision. That’s why decades from now, we’ll still remember them, while thousands of others who played in their leagues will fade into obscurity.
With focus, you do four hours of work in one. With consistency, your results compound. With discipline, you create the time and motivation you need to succeed.
Question: What’s one modern distraction you could eliminate to free up more time and focus for what matters?
One Final Thought
2025 won’t wait. It is happening whether you act or not.
Start small. Start where you are. But start now.
Here’s to a year of bold actions and meaningful progress.
À la semaine prochaine,
Tom
